P2P

File sharing is basically what the name says it is. It is the idea of sharing files across the internet. In actuality, the process can be illegal because of what is being shared. Peer-to-peer sharing allows people to download either books, tv shows, and movies. This sharing is free, most of the time. That takes from the potential money that the creators of those content can make. That rubs the massive companies off till they just blow out. They don't usually like when they lose money so that is why there has been action taken against these pirates. According to the New York Times article "Should Online Scofflaws Be Denied Web Access?"  "the American entertainment industry says accounts for the loss of $20 billion a year in sales. Several lawmakers vowed to increase scrutiny of international markets where piracy is widespread." That amount of money is hard to overcome and that makes those people angry. Peer-to-peer sharing is a modern day burglar heist or it can be seen as a Robin Hood situation where the poor is taking from the rich to spread art to those who might not be able to afford it.
